CAFF’s newest member, Nanaimo Fringe Theatre Festival in Nanaimo, BC, is accepting applications!

“The Nanaimo Fringe Theatre Festival will run August 16th – 26th, 2012. 8 companies will be performing in front of a live audience who may love, hate, become transfixed or even startled. Our festival is perfect for developing, emerging and experimenting artists.”

CAFF Touring Lottery Deadline: Tuesday, October 18, 5:00pm EST

The 2012 CAFF Touring Lottery closes on Tuesday, October 18 at 5:00pm EST. Visit the Touring Lottery page for more information.

*A word to the wise… don’t wait until 4:00 or 4:30pm EST on the 18th to fax your application. The fax machine will be very busy in the hours leading up to the deadline and you may not be able to get your application through.

Lottery Timeline:

The 2012 Touring Lottery will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 in London, Ontario.

Lottery winners will be contacted by phone and e-mail immediately following the lottery. Winners must accept or reject by Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 5:00pm (EST). Failure to respond by this deadline will result in loss of lottery spot.

Results will be posted on the CAFF website and e-mailed to all entrants on Friday, October 21, 2011.

The 20th annual San Francisco Fringe Festival, produced by EXIT Theatre, runs September 7 -11, 2011. San Francisco’s center for experimental theatre since 1983, EXIT Theatre draws audiences for cutting-edge performances staged in four intimate venues, all with a bohemian cabaret atmosphere. This year’s festival features 44 shows over the course of 12 days!

The Vancouver International Fringe Festival, produced annually by the First Vancouver Theatrespace Society, is BC’s largest theatre festival and North America’s most international Fringe Fest. This year’s Fringe Festival runs September 8-18, 2011 and will feature over 600 performances by more than 80 groups over 11 days.

It’s the Victoria Fringe’s 25th anniversary! Over the last 25 years the festival has grown to become Vancouver Island’s biggest theatre event. From August 25 to September 4, 2011, 72 international, independent performing companies will descend on the City of Gardens for ten days and nights of comedy, drama, dance, spoken word, and physical theatre – over 400 performances in fourteen venues. Fringe-going is easy, fun and slightly addictive. Meet friends, artists and strangers in lineups, buy cheap tickets and see live shows, grab a bit or beer in between and figure out what you’ll see next. It’s the best part of the summer.

The first ever Festival FRINGE de Saguenay (en Français) runs from September 1-4, 2011. 7 venues, more than 30 artists, and 100 shows in 4 days! The Saguenay FRINGE Festival is a 2011 novelty that will be presented in the Chicoutimi borough.

The Atlantic Fringe Festival celebrates its 21st edition Sept 1 – 11, 2011 with 28 new theatre and dance shows from Atlantic Canada, Ontario, the U.S., and abroad. We offer over 150 performances in 7 venues: musicals, dramas, comedies, dances, performance, belly dancers.

The Boulder International Fringe Festival in Boulder, CO runs August 17-28, 2011. The Festival’s primary goal is to offer the community opportunities to create, perform and workshop new material right in their own back yard! The Boulder Fringe hosts artists, local, national and international, presenting shows in twelve days at various venues – mostly within Boulder’s cultural corridor in the heart of downtown.

The 7th annual Indy Fringe in Indianapolis, IN runs August 19-28, 2011. The Indianapolis Fringe is a celebration of theatre “old and new,” edgy and not-so, that happens over ten days in the Mass Ave Cultural District downtown. The festival came to life seven years ago and has grown into a cultural attraction that keeps drawing audiences.

The 30th Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival runs August 11-21, 2011. The Edmonton Fringe is a festival of independent theatre: more than 180 productions in 42 venues, performing shows of all kinds! The Saskatoon Fringe Theatre Festival is one of Saskatoon’s widely celebrated summer festivals and features accessible, affordable theatre performed by independent theatre artists from around the world. Running from July 28 to August 6, be sure to check-out the 37 fabulous shows of the 2011 PotashCorp Fringe Theatre Festival!

The 2011 Calgary Fringe Festival will take place July 29 to August 6. The Calgary Fringe is a nine-day Fringe, situated in the calendar between the Winnipeg Fringe and the Edmonton Fringe. This year’s festival will host a combination of local, national, and international productions – 27 altogether – for a total of over 160 performances over nine days.
